Henry David Thoreau is considered to be one of the fathers of modern-day environmentalism. Thoreau inspires us creatively with his natural observation, poetic sensibility and his "Yankee" love of practical detail. We were especially thrilled to find out that his father John was a storekeeper and pencil maker. Working in the family business Henry David Thoreau invented a new form of graphite binding for his father’s pencils. We love that one of our heroes was as obsessed with office supplies as we are.
